MORE free parking officially became available in Bognor Regis this week.
The Hothamton car park joined the sites at Fitzleet and Lyon Street in the two-hour free parking scheme.
It triples the number of ground-level spaces in which motorists can forget paying for stays of up to two hours.
Hothamton, off Queensway, has 201 spaces plus 14 disabled.
Lyon Street has 61 spaces plus five and the multi-storey Fitzleet 343 plus 24.
Nick Stuart-Nicolson, who leads Bognor Regis Chamber of Commerce, said: “Hothamton is a welcome addition, thanks to Arun District Council, to the free parking scheme.
“It gives motorists many more ground-level spaces to use and will, hopefully, boost the number of shoppers in the town centre.”
Motorists need to buy a yellow disc for £1 from various town-centre outlets to use all the car parks. The scheme’s expansion continues the partnership between Arun and Bognor councils, the chamber and Bognor Regis Traders’ Association which brought in free parking in December 2011.
