LYCHEES appeared on the menu at Eastergate C of E Primary School for a drink with a difference.

The fruit was one of a number of unusual tastes which the pupils were encouraged to make into smoothies.

Another of the ingredients for the DIY health drinks was pomegranate seeds to get the children’s mouths tingling.

Deputy head teacher Graham Oakford said the pupils enjoying mixing the different tastes and colours. “The smoothies went down really well. We wanted to promote different fruits which the children would probably not have tried before.

“We also spoke about the benefits of having a healthy breakfast each day.”
