A MINI-Olympics was staged by children from Bognor Regis and Felpham primary schools.

Each school represented a country that is taking part in London 2012.

Katie Lavoie, of Rose Green Junior School, said: “The event began with its own torch relay, which involved two children from each school carrying and passing on the torch.

“Everyone was in high spirits and we had some super athletes.”

The winners were Rose Green Junior School. Downview Primary School came second.

St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Bognor finished in third place.

Ms Lavoie said: “The children took part in sprints, long distance runs, relays and a variety of throws.

“Parents, teachers, children and even the sun joined us for the afternoon.”

The occasion was the latest of the schools’ annual area athletics championships.
