A CREATIVE pupil’s efforts showcased a Bognor Regis school at its best.

The newly-named Families Teachers Association (formally the Parent Teachers Association) at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School has got off to a flying
start thanks to a school-wide competition.

Pupil’s at the Glamis Street school were encouraged to enter the design-a-logo competition for the association with winners chosen from across four age groups.

James Dew from Year 5 was chosen as the overall winner with his eye-catching, clever design reflecting the inclusive family ethos of the school.

Prizes were donated by PRN Nursing and Homecare Services and Henry Adams.

Peter Whiteley, the newly -elected FTA chairman, said: “There are lots of exciting FTA events planned for the new year.

“We have had a successful Christmas fair which we hope to have raised more than £1,000.

“It has been really exciting setting up a new FTA.

“I look forward to the next few years as chairman.”

The newly-formed FTA committee are teachers and families of the school.

They are largely responsible for fundraising at St Mary’s to purchase items.

They will also help to organise events which will further enhance the opportunities available for the children.
