More room is proposed for town school

MORE room is planned at a Bognor Regis school.

West Sussex County Council intends to build an extra classroom and extend the hall at Nyewood CofE Infant School.

The council has applied for planning permission for the work at the Brent Road premises. It also includes a covered play area, new entrance and additional parking.

The changes will enable the school to accommodate 270 pupils compared to the current 218. A statement with the council’s planning application says: “The existing hall will benefit from a 40sq m extension.

“This space is needed as a consequence of the increasing number of pupils, especially during lunch period.

“The classroom extension will increase the current footprint of the school providing an extra 183sq m.”

This space will benefit the school with a new classroom, cloakroom, group room and some storage. An internal visitor waiting area will also be provided.
