SINGING students at Felpham Community College wowed a sell-out theatre audience.
The six pupils performed at the Alexandra Theatre in Bognor Regis with the Tony Strudwick Band for the remembrance weekend.
The Remembrance Big Band Show was an evening to celebrate the music of some of the musicians of the big band era.
Tara Lewry, Sammy Nye, Megan Balcombe, Stephanie Gibbons and Abby Erskine, all aged 14, and 15-year-old Molly Light were invited to take part in the show.
Abby said they spent lunch and break times at college rehearsing for weeks before the show but it was still daunting to hear the band for the first time.
“We rehearsed our piece on the stage with the band and that’s when we started to get really nervous as we were all quite overwhelmed by the volume of the band.
“A few hours later, we were all stood side stage waiting to go on and perform,” she said. “We had turned our nerves into excitement and we knew that we just had to put loads of energy in and sing loudly.”
The students were proud of their performance, said Abby, and were grateful for the experience.
