BUDDING gardeners made sure judges had a hard time picking the best in Bognor Regis.

The annual awards ceremony for the Schoolbarrow Garden Contest was a celebration of the schoolchildren’s blooming great efforts.

The ceremony took place last Wednesday in Hothamton Sunken Gardens.

Bognor Regis town mayor Eileen Anderson presented the prizes, with judges commenting on the extremely high standard.

Bishop Tufnell School won two prizes in the Best Miniature Garden category, the foundation class scooping first prize with
its miniature garden and Year One students receiving joint runner-up.

Bartons Infant School was also joint runner-up for its wonderful Gruffalo miniature garden.

In the freestyle category Downview Primary School beat off fierce competition to take the first prize with its Jubilee Garden, with Year 10 students from the Regis School coming
in second with their Desert Garden.
