Easter service will be on Elmer beach

WORSHIPPERS will again be gathering on Elmer beach at sunrise on Easter Sunday.

The members of St Nicholas Church will repeat their early-morning gathering after the success of last year’s inaugural
open-air service.

They will start from the church at 6.30am and walk to the seafront to celebrate the new light of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

A short service will be held there, weather permitting. Bad weather will see it
take place in the Elmer Road church.

Father William Marston, of St Nicholas, said: “Easter is a very moving time of year.

“In particular, I think those who came to the early service on the beach last Easter Sunday will never forget it.”

Warming soup, rolls, tea and coffee will be available in the church afterwards. Church services will follow at 8am, 9.45am and 11.15am.

Two soup lunches in aid of Help for Heroes are
being held at St Nicholas this month.

The first, held last Wednesday, raised £60.50.

The next will take
place from midday-2pm
next Wednesday in the church hall.

Entrance is free and donations are invited.
