Robin, 39, a cleaner at United Response, and Anna, 47, a senior mental health support worker, will take on the challenge dressed as Dr Who and his assistant.

Anna said: “Bognor Birdman has been taking place in Bognor for many years and is part of Bognor’s quirky nature.”

“I have worked in my current role for three years and have watched how dedicated Robin has been. Last year, I helped with his costume and this year felt I’d join in. This also coincided with my five year all clear from cancer - as proof of my return to full health I thought I’d throw myself off the pier!”

“The atmosphere was great but really windy so it was a shame the weather was so challenging that it led to stopping the competition after our jump. Although we were not placed, we did manage to raise £500.”

“ I had a great time and especially enjoyed my ride in the lifeboat on the choppy sea.”

“We would have liked to have been placed but we achieved the aim of raising money and the profile of United Response’s mental health services.”
