THE latest instalment in the Selsey Asda saga is currently being heard at Chichester District Council’s planning meeting.

A decision is expected on a revised plan for up to 139 homes, a hotel and petrol station as well as a new Asda supermarket on the northern edge of the town on the Park Farm site.

The developer Landlink Estates made a material change which included reducing the number of homes by five immediately after council planners refused the application at last month’s planning meeting.

Because the application had not met its publicity expiry date it meant the refusal could not be implemented, meaning the application has gone back to the planning committee today.

The decision will be published here on our website as soon as it arrives.

Selsey Town Council, who have again backed the application, accused Chichester District Council of ‘gross incompetence’ over the issue.

Other local councils are against the plan and it has polarised opinion throughout the area.
