Police investigating a blaze at a scrap yard have arrested a local man on suspicion of arson.
Engines from Chichester as well as Bognor Regis were dispatched to the fire yesterdayat the 40m by 15m scrap yard in Bognor Regis, a spokesperson for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service confirmed.
Onlookers saw towering flames higher than the walls of the yard, which the fire services suspected to be due to burning pallett boxes.
A 34-year-old local man was arrested at a nearby address on suspicion of arson with intent and has been bailed until Monday, November 7.
Police and fire services were called to the scrap yard in Ockley Road early yesterday morning to a report of a fire.
No injuries have been reported as a result of the flames which drew 25 firefighters at its peak, the fire service confirmed.
