A MAN will go on trial charged with attempted murder after an attack in Felpham.
Joel Reed, 24, of no fixed abode, appeared in custody at Chichester Magistrates’ Court today (Wednesday, February 27). He will appear at Lewes Crown Court on March 15. Bail was not granted.
Reed’s address was first given as Old Coastguards in Felpham but magistrates heard he was only staying there with an elderly relative.
The defendant’s mother, Emma Reed, 42, of Felpham Road, has been charged with assisting an offender and will appear on bail at Chichester Magistrates’ Court on March 20.
Police were called to an address in Collyer Avenue, Bognor Regis, just after 11am last Sunday, after reports a 35-year-old man had been slashed across the throat with a knife. The victim was taken to St Richard’s Hospital and has since been discharged.
