Man arrested after a Middleton convenience store is robbed

A Bognor Regis man has been arrested after a knife point robbery in Middleton.

The 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery following an incident at the One Stop store in Elmer Road yesterday (Wednesday, August 3).

It is believed the man entered the store at around 5.50pm and threatened the shop assistant with a knife, before leaving with around £190.

He was arrested today (Thursday, August 4) at an address in Bognor.

Detective Sergeant John Kalli of West Sussex CID said: “We are in the early stages of the investigation and are not ruling out the possibility that this robbery may be linked to the one on Saturday 30 July at Peters Newsagent in Middleton Road, and the Ladbrokes robbery in Chichester Road, Bersted, on Tuesday 2 August.

“Fortunately no one was hurt in either of the robberies. Officers are talking to local businesses and residents and extra patrols of the area are being conducted.”
