Council to debate tackling dog fouling

PARISH councillors in Aldwick are to discuss paying for extra
patrols against dog fouling.

Members referred the debate about the matter to their amenities committee.

They could pay £15 an hour towards an enforcement officer scheme, protecting against fouling breaches of Arun District Council’s dog control order and littering rules.

They would also be expected to pay £150 towards the costs of taking any alleged offenders to court.

Speaking at Monday’s meeting, parish council vice-chairman Molly Myers said: “I’m very pleased at last it has been recognised that
dog fouling is a major problem and something positive is being done about it.”

But she said it was unfair for the parish council to be asked to contribute part of the court costs as well as pay the enforcement officers’ hourly rate.
