MORE than £40,000 has been awarded to groups around Bognor Regis.
The grants were decided by town councillors to benefit good causes and events.
They included £4,999 to Arun Arts, which runs the Regis Centre, £9,000 to Bognor Regis Seafront Lights, £1,000 to Bognor CAN and £2,500 to Arun and Chichester CAB.
Among the other groups to benefit were Hotham Park Heritage Trust (£500), Number 18 Project (£500), Southdowns Folk Festival (£6,500) and Rox Music and Arts (£6,500).
Cllr Adam Cunard, the chairman of the council’s policy and resources committee, said he was pleased the £43,449 of grants showed it was able to support a wide range of organisations.
“Even in these tough times, we have still be able to award a decent amount,” he said. “We were asked for £141,181. We had difficulty cutting that back because we didn’t have the full amount.”
Cllr Roger Nash said he was disappointed the grant to the CAB had been cut by £1,500 compared to last year.
