ROTARIANS have thanked those who helped them to raise a record sum with their annual Christmas float.
Bognor Hotham Rotary Club’s Father Christmas tour collected £9,109.60 from 15 outings in the three weeks before December 25.
This will benefit local charities and good causes after essential expenses.
Club press officer John Holman said the magnificent effort was only possible with a lot of help.
“Events like this often overlook the great effort that goes into them, not only by the Rotarian organisers, the drivers, route leaders and Santa.
“But also the many volunteers who become Santa’s helpers to walk the streets in all weathers. These include family members of Rotarians, Bognor Regis Lions Club members and a small army of friends.”
More than 60 of those individuals were the guests of the Rotary Club at a celebratory dinner, complete with entertainment, to thank them.
“President Nigel Wood said the float would not have been possible without all their contributions,” said Mr Holman.
“The helpers said how much they had enjoyed the float outings and were looking forward to joining us again next Christmas,”
The takings reflected the appreciation by all those who saw the float.
Requests for help from the money should go to: Nigel Wood, Bognor Hotham Rotary Club President, Bognor Regis Golf Club, Felpham, PO22 8JD.
