FREE lunchtime concerts have resumed at a Bognor Regis church.
The opening recital at St Wilfrid’s Church was performed last Wednesday in front of an enthusiastic audience.
It was given by Janine Willard, the church’s choir trainer, accompanied by church organist Rex Latter on the piano.
Janine chose 12 pieces drawn from oratorio pieces and Italian and English opera to show her enjoyment of them and the full range of her voice.
The composers varied from Dowland, Purcell, JS Bach and Handel to Carissimi. Warm applause from the audience greeted the hour of beautiful music. Further concerts will be held on the first Wednesday monthly during the summer.
The next musical event at the church, on Ellasdale Road, takes place at 7pm on May 17. It will be given by four members from Lyra, a group of graduates of the St Petersburg Conservatoire.
They will sing Russian folk and sacred music.
