Christmas lights to be switched on in Bognor Regis

New Christmas lights will have Bognor Regis town centre sparkling for the festive season.

The colourful displays along the High Street and London Road precinct will be lit up for the first time at Saturday’s (November 26) switch-on.

They will be brought to life at 4.30pm at The Arcade’s town centre end by the stars of this year’s panto at the Regis Centre.

The Wizard of Oz’s cast includes Bognor’s Chelsie Padley and Dominique Simpson as Dorothy. And the lights will be burning brightly thanks to a town-centre firm.

Omni Brokers has agreed to sponsor the cost of the electricity in a deal expected to reach £1,000.

One of the Sudley Road company’s directors, Graham Rousell, said: “We are proud to be sponsoring the lights and we hope they are enjoyed by everyone.

“At this time of doom and gloom, everyone needs some good news and the lights appeal to all ages.

“Children love them, they help the businesses in the town and they bring people into the town. Our sponsorship is also a way of saying thank you to all our local clients in our 50th anniversary year.”

The agreement with Bognor Regis Town Council, which pays for the lights, extends Mr Rousell’s links with the illuminations.
