Christmas event will have a safety message

EMERGENCY services have teamed up to bring festive cheer to town.

Sussex Police, West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and Arun District Council will be in Bognor’s shopping precinct on Saturday (December 14) between 11am and 4pm.

Officers will be reminding people to think before they get behind the wheel after having a drink.

There will be plenty of fun for the family to enjoy, including, Santa’s grotto, face painting, food stalls, and entertainment.

Chief Inspector Pip Taylor, Arun District Commander said: “We wanted to set up an event that brings together our diverse community in Arun, and at the same time allows all agencies to reinforce some important messages during this festive period.”

Dave Benham, of West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, said: “Nobody wants their Christmas ruined by accidents, injuries or worse. By getting out into the community with events like this and reminding people of the simple steps they can take to stay safe in their homes and on the road we can help reduce the risk of there being an empty place at someone’s dinner table this Christmas.”
