A NEW wood in Walberton has been given a helping hand by children from the village’s pre-school.

Each of the 40 youngsters planted a tree almost a year after the Jubilee Wood was begun last June.

They were helped by parish councillors and the greenkeepers at Avisford Park Golf Club where the wood is situated.

The trees the children planted will provide year-round colour. The pre-school spent the morning in the wood with games, a snack and a story adding to the fun.

The trees were among 420 donated by the Woodland Trust to extend the wood after it was boosted by a village planting day last year.
