A CAR flipped over on the A27 last night (January 16) after crashing into a telegraph pole.

Firefighters from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were on site just after 6pm after the accident between Fontwell and Tangmere.

A spokeswoman from the fire service said the car was upside down and had to be turned the right way up with a winch after it was removed from the telegraph pole.

She said no one appeared to have been trapped in the vehicle when the fire crew arrived.

A spokesman from Sussex Police also said there did not appear to be a report of any injuries.

The accident caused queueing along the A27 westbound.

There was a further incident an hour later when two cars crashed on Nyton Road, which joins the A27 at Aldingbourne, which may also have contributed to delays.

The fire service said two cars collided but again there were no reports of people being trapped.
