EYESIGHT checks are on offer in Barnham as a new opticians opened its doors.

The new business has been set up by optician Douglas Denny and optical dispenser and shop manager Mandy Corbett.

The pair worked together at an independent opticians in Felpham and decided to take the plunge and set up on their own.

Mrs Corbett said: “We had talked about setting our own shop for a while and we decided that the time was right.”

The outlet, the only one in the village, opened on July 9.

“As I have lived in Barnham I knew there was a real need for an opticians in the area, so it seemed like an ideal location,” said Mrs Corbett.

The premises, in The Square, used to be a pet shop and has gone through an extensive renovation programme.

“When we moved in the shop was like an empty shell. It was like a blank canvas. We got the keys on May 6 and since then we have not stopped.

“It has been great decorating the place and choosing the displays. We have really been able to have what we want.

“It has also been a lot of fun ordering the different frames. I have tried to keep everything as affordable as possible,” added Mrs Corbett.
