Cinema and parking research to be issued

NEW research about how many cinemas can survive in Bognor Regis will be revealed next week.

The analysis into the future of big screens in the town has been ordered by Arun District Council.

It forms part of its work following the public consultation into the planned four- to five-screen miniplex in the £40m regeneration scheme by developer St Modwen.

Also to be revealed next week is the result of study into car parking around the town. Both issues were among the top concerns raised by residents during November’s consultation. The existing car parks at the Regis Centre and Hothamton will be largely built upon for the redevelopment.

Arun received more than 5,000 views about the important schemes which have been analysed over the past two months.

Council leader Gillian Brown said: “I know many people will be interested to see the results of the consultation that we carried out with St Modwen late last year.

“It has taken a long time to analyse the different views we received but a thorough and detailed report will help inform the subcommittee’s next steps.”

The information will be included in the agenda of the council’s Bognor Regis regeneration subcommittee meeting on February 26. This will be published on the council’s website next Friday. The subcommittee will meet in public at 6pm at the John Parry Centre at the Bognor campus of the University of Chichester.

Taking place at the centre at 6pm next Tuesday (February 12) will be a regeneration public question time. Limited spaces are still available from linda.standley@arun.gov.uk

The event will involve Arun, St Modwen, West Sussex County Council and the university.
