A TRAVEL firm has used bumper trade this month to further support a national charity.
The field of ceramic poppies outside the Tower of London has drawn thousands of people to the capital in recent weeks, including hundreds from the Observer area.
Bognor Regis-based coach firm Woods Travel was in great demand as people from the town took the trip to London to see the poppies.
The firm said it put on 15 coaches which took 785 people on day trips to the site.
The company’s managing director Roger Elsmere said people from Midhurst, Petworth, Bognor, Chichester and beyond all took the trip, many donating on the trip to the Royal British Legion.
Mr Elsmere said there was a collection on each of the coaches that raised £1,538.16.
The company matched the donations collected from passengers to double the amount raised.
Mr Elsmere added the directors of Woods Travel wanted to thank all the passengers for their ‘amazing generosity’.
