Authors Sylvia Endacott and Shirley Lewis met readers of their new book at a signing session in Bognor Regis.
The town residents and local historians spent two hours in WH Smith talking to visitors about Butlin’s – 75 Years of Fun.
The occasion saw them sell a number of copies well into double figures to add to the national publicity their book has generated. Buyers included holidaymakers and former employees.
Shirley said: “This is the first book of national interest we have written and the reaction has come as a complete surprise to us.
“In the past, with the local books, we have given the manuscript to the printers and that’s been it.
“With this book, the publisher The History Press has lined up interviews with newspapers and radio stations.”
Sylvia had been featured on 15 radio stations before last Saturday’s signing.
