Building materials firm seeks temporary backing

TEMPORARY permission is being sought for a reclamation business to use a North Bersted site.

Sussex Reclaim and Supplies wants to continue to be based at Chalcroft Nursery for three years with a portable building as a sales office and a storage yard.

The business stocks a range of new and reclaimed building materials like roof tiles, bricks, stones and shingles at the Chalcraft Lane location.

Formed last November, the company has an average of one delivery a week from anything from a small to a large lorry. It also has a 3.5 ton and a 7.5 ton lorry which each go out some 3/4 times weekly.

Stephen Jupp, the firm’s planning agent, said in a statement with the planning application to Arun District Council: “The level of traffic generation associated with the proposed use is minimal and it is likely many customers would make combined visits – to see the showroom, visit the garden centre and buy hard landscaping materials.”
