LISA Stone has become an Olympic winner in Bognor Regis.
The member of 1st Bognor Guides has seen her medal-shaped floral display planted for thousands of passers-by to see.
Lisa was the overall winner of the annual flowerbed display competition held by Bognor Regis Town Council and Girlguiding in the town. She created floral gold, silver and bronze medals to fill the 12sq m curved flowerbed in the Gloucester Road Gardens.
“It was the first time I had entered the competition and I’m really happy that I’ve won it,” she said. “I couldn’t create the Olympic rings in the flowerbed so I thought the medals were the next best thing.”
Her design will be brought to life by about 600 plants of five varieties. They include geranium cherry, ageratum houstonianum and marigold antigua yellow.
This year’s contest attracted a record number of well over 150 entries, thanks to the enthusiasm of the parents and leaders.
