BUDDING young gardeners enjoyed a day of mud and bugs in Bersted.

The Muddy Bugs Gardening Club hosted a taster event at Bersted Community Centre in Chalcraft Lane.

The free event was a chance for some 30 green-fingered youngsters to enjoy an afternoon of planting, sowing and learning.

Organiser Jo Golesworthy said: “All of the children have really enjoyed the afternoon and we have had a lot of interest.

“The children have really loved all the planting we have done, and the older children enjoyed the quizzes and word searches.”

The afternoon was an opportunity for kids who love gardening to learn about all aspects of the horticultural world.

“The children planted lettuces, beans and flowers.

“They also made some lemonade.”
