Bank charity event backed by customer

A CUSTOMER’S experience brought home to Bognor Regis bank staff the importance of their fundraising event.

The employees at the town’s Lloyds Bank in the High Street hosted a Tinsel, Tea and Talk event for the Alzheimer’s Society.

They joined with their customers to bake more than 600 homemade treats for the occasion. As well as the baking extravaganza, there was the chance to talk about dementia. The outcome was a £750 donation to the society.

Branch manager Kevin Noyce said: “The importance of raising funds was brought home to colleagues when a customer registering the death of his mother came over to buy a cake.

“He handed over a large donation and asked for just one cake in return, explaining the Alzheimer’s Society had provided much-needed support to his family during his mother’s dementia and that the charity had made a big difference to all their lives.”
