BALLOONS will be released at a Bognor Regis care home by residents who have lived though both world wars.
The act of respect to friends and loved ones who have passed away will take place at Greenways on Remembrance Sunday.
Staff at the MHA home in Hawthorn Road will be holding the service – open to the community – at 4pm.
The occasion will enable its residents to remember the challenging times so many had to overcome in the 1914-18 and 1939-45 conflicts.
Greenways manager Rhona Emmerich said: “We have residents who have worked in the Army, Navy, RAF and even have a Bletchley Park code-breaker.
“Taking time to remember friends and loved ones who are no longer with us is important.”
The service and the releasing of balloons acknowledged the grief which the end of a person’s life brought, but they were also about celebrating life and sharing memories, she added.
