Animal lovers have dug deep to support a local rescue centre as a little badger cub opens her eyes for the first time.

Brent Lodge, in Sidlesham, is currently caring for a rescued badger cub - which has just seen the world for the first time.

And, after appealing for donations of food on their Facebook page, they’ve been flooded with responses from well-wishers.

Many people have been following the progress of the six-week-old creature online, dubbed Miss Badger by staff and fans.

And after revealing that she will soon be eating her body weight in puppy food, the rescue centre was inundated with support on the social networking site. One wildlife supporter pledged 24 cans of puppy food, while another promised to get a local supermarket to deliver a batch.
