VIDEO: Wacky sight for Chichester shoppers...

A blonde bombshell made a pitstop in Chichester during an animated visit to the city centre yesterday with all her cartoon character chums following behind her.

Penelope Pitstop in her bright pink car, Peter Perfect and Dick Dastardly were among the Wacky Racers providing a taster of things to come for the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Excited shoppers looked on as a procession of colourful and crazy vehicles drove through West Street and South Street on June 3. The visit revived nostalgic memories for many residents.

"I thought it was brilliant, really good," said Rosalind Smith, owner of clothing store Chesca in South Street.

"It's a shame my son missed it because I used to watch Wacky Races with him on television when he was younger. It's a cult thing, you never forget it. We need things like this in Chichester otherwise it gets too old. It would be nice to look like Penelope Pitstop, maybe I could have been her when I was younger."

The Wacky Races team will feature as part of the Festival of Speed in the stunning grounds of Goodwood House on July 3, 4 and 5 this year.

The Wacky Races team will put on a show for families and also have their own special race.
