Taxi fares around Bognor Regis could rise by 20 per cent to take account of soaring fuel costs.
Councillors meeting tomorrow (Friday) will be asked to approve the increase from September 3.
The need for an interim review, just a few months after the previous decision, follows concern from taxi drivers that the current fares fail to reflect t
he price of petrol.
Arun District Council's licensing and enforcement committee is being asked by its officer, Glenn James, to back the increase for the first mile of journeys.
This will take the new tariff to £4.10 for hirings between 6am and midnight. All other fares will stay the same.
