OUTRIGHT opposition to an incinerator in Bognor Regis was vowed at the annual town electors' meeting.
West Sussex County Council has earmarked the former Lec site on Shripney Road among 16 possible locations for the waste facility.

This comes after it highlighted the site as a potential location for a waste transfer centre.

Neither scheme is wanted by councillors or nearby residents.

Cllr Paul Wells said: "We have got to stand up and fight the county council on the issue of an incinerator.

"That site is not the right site. It is a gateway for Bognor and it is the last thing we want on there."
