Booking has opened for the latest Butlins hotel in Bognor Regis.
The holiday company has defied the economic gloom by spending £20m on the new visitor attraction.

The first guests at the Ocean Hotel are likely to be enjoying its 200 bedrooms from late August onwards.

They are said by the holiday company to be its most stylish ever. Colour change lighting, rainfall showers and private balconies overlooking the sea and the South Downs will provide luxury surroundings for its 720 guests.

Family rooms feature a separate children's den. Kids' beds come with specially designed blue glow lighting.

Facilities include all-day check-ins, a chic restaurant and bar, unique spa facilities, room service, landscaped gardens and full access to all the entertainment on the Butlins resort.

Prices for a Mariner four-berth room with South Downs views start from £1,120 for two adults and two children for seven nights from Aug ust 21. The same break during the October half-term begins at £952.

The hotel – added to the existing Shoreline Hotel – will help Butlins in Bognor attract at least half a million tourists this year. Bookings across the company's three sites are up by 15 per cent during the six-week peak summer period.

Butlins' managing director Richard Bates said: "With the amount of choice on offer, this is the year to be here.

"The modern-era Butlins is a unique mix of quality accommodation and entertainment guests love. And 97 per cent say we offer brilliant value for money."
