THERE was a family connection when gardens were opened to help church funds.

Laurence Hardy and his wife Rebeka raised £1,417 for All Saints at Danehill by opening their 14 acres of gardens at Latchetts near the village.

Their ancestors were involved with the building of the church, which dates to 1892.

The first-time event was such a success that organisers hope to repeat it next year.

Marian Spinks, from the church, said: "It was very good of Mr and Mrs Hardy to open their garden. It's a very pleasing total.

"We are planning to run it again next year."
