BEECH Hurst Miniature Railway in Haywards Heath is holding two days of special events this weekend at Beech Hurst Gardens to commemorate 40 years since steam locomotives stopped hauling mainline passenger services on a regular basis.

Today (August 2) from 2pm to 5pm up to eight different trains will be hauled exclusively by steam locomotives.

Members' steam locomotives will be on display during the afternoon as well, weather permitting.

On Sunday (August 3), to demonstrate the move away from steam, the railway will run electric locomotives with just one steam one in action between 2pm and 5pm.

Fares will cost £1 per ride.
