HASSOCKS villagers turned out in force to support the annual late night shopping evening.
Many shops stayed open for the festive event on Thursday (November 27), which was well supported by families who watched the Christmas lights being switched on and enjoyed browsing for bargains.

Burgess Hill and District Lions Club members were out with their collection tins, and children from Hassocks Infants School enjoyed singing carols while mums and dads manned a stall in the school playground.

Stalls were also set up in the National Tyres forecourt, including one selling hot chestnuts. Children also enjoyed dipping marshmallows into melted chocolate at charity shop Humanity at Heart.

Hot drinks and other refreshments were provided by volunteers from the United Reformed Church, with proceeds going to Chestnut Tree House Hospice for Children and Church Action for Poverty.
