FIRST-TIME author Luke Temple, 19, lined up a ship-load of pirates to hoist the Jolly Roger at the launch of his book tour.

Luke's adventure tale for children, Stormy Cliff, is published this month and Hurst College Prep School was his first port of call at the start of a swashbuckling tour of local schools.

The children in the book meet a host of colourful characters including the scary pirate Captain Traiton in a treasure hunt quest to save their school.

Luke, from Hurstpierpoint, hopes the book will be a touchstone to spark children's interest in creativity and reading.
