Festival gets off to a cracking start

The weather gods have been kind to Goodwood so far as the first day of the festival received nothing but sunshine today (July 3).

Thousands burst through the gates to witness the new Audi sculpture outside Goodwood House which has received a lot of positive feedback.

The crowds were snap-happy when some racers got behind the wheels of some tastey motors, and the usual Wack Races team twere there to raise a few smiles.

The usual collection of supercars, familiar racing faces and vintage motors were present as always but this year a new Dunlop arena has been added to the festival's facilities.

The arena based near Library Lawn seemed to be a hit with visitors and hosted conversations with Lord March, F1 racing legen Derek Bell and many other interesting people.

The Red Arrows also provided some jaw-dropping stunts in the sky during the afternoon.

Rain clouds in the morning looked set to dampen people's spirits but the sun quickly shone through to save the day.
