MUSIC: Soloists join in for Chichester Pro Camerata concert

The Chichester Pro Camerata, under its Camerata Soloists Series, will welcome Histoire du Tango! for the next performance on Saturday, at 7.30pm at The Chapel, Chichester University, College Lane, Chichester.

Histoire du Tango! comprise award-winning saxophonist Tom Law and Chichester Pro Camerata director and pianist Andrew Saunders for a concert of popular classics, light jazz, tangos, virtuosic ragtime and romantic piano music.

Michael Sullivan, Chichester Pro Camerata founder and director, said: "Tom Law is one of very few saxophonists who regularly work in both the classical and jazz fields.

"After graduating from the Royal College of Music with first-class honours and having won all the top prizes for saxophone, as well as the RCM Director's prize and the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe prize, he continued his studies with a full scholarship at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama on the masters jazz course.

"Recent engagements have included solo recitals in the UK, Europe and Asia and with orchestras such as the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Welsh National Opera, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and the Southbank Sinfonia. Tom has recorded for Landor records."

Andrew Saunders, after graduating from the Royal College of Music where he studied piano with a full scholarship from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, is now studying on the masters course at the Royal Academy of Music.

Performances in the UK and abroad have included concertos by Gershwin, Grieg, Mozart, Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky.
