HORSHAM'S fire chief released an urgent safety appeal this week after two young Sussex brothers died in a blaze at their home on Saturday.
Lewis Jenkins, aged seven, and his brother, Taylor, five, were found by firefighters at a terraced house in Eastbourne.
Leading Horsham district fireman Paul Daley said the tragedy served as a reminder of how dangerous house fires can be and how important it is to have working smoke alarms in every home.

"Fortunately these fires have resulted only in minor injuries and damage to property," he said.
"We have an objective to prevent deaths and serious injuries from fire.
"Sadly we still attend fires in homes that do not have a working smoke alarm, which means that our message to fit alarms is not getting through to everyone."
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service offers a free Home Fire Safety Check, which includes the fitting of a smoke alarm.
DC Daley urged residents to phone 0800 3286487 and book their free check now.
