He wowed them with a sensational set at Blues On The Farm last year. And he's back for more this week.
Italian rock 'n' roll singer and pianist Matthew Lee is delighted to be in the UK once again and heading back to Chichester.
"I had a lot of fun there last time," he says. "Blues On The Farm is a really great place to play."
Don't be fooled by
the English-sounding name. Matthew was born in Pesaro.
His real name is Mateo, and the adopted surname Lee is his tribute to his rock 'n' roll/blues heroes Gerry Lee Lewis, Albert Lee and John Lee Hooker.
"Rock 'n' roll is the most beautiful music," he says. "I like jazz, but not too much. I like modern, but not too much. But rock 'n' roll is just great!"
All of which puts him in a great position. Well, how many Italian rock 'n' roll stars can you name?
Blues On The Farm kicks off today (Thursday, June 18) with boogie-woogie king Mike Sanchez, Oli Brown and Matt Schofield.
Tomorrow (Friday, June 19) brings Storm Warning, King King featuring Alan Nimmo and Sharrie Williams and her Wiseguys.
Saturday, June 20 (doors open at midday) features Rory Ellis, Derrin Nauendorf, Ian Siegal, Stephen Dale Petit, Imelda May and Matthew Lee.
Sunday, June 21 (doors open 11.30am) offers Sarah Savoy and the Francadians, Ian Siegal, the Electric Revelators, Rodney Branigan, Swing Commanders and The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain.
