Wheatsheaf reached their second final of the season by beating Angmering Reserves 6-5 on penalties in the Bareham Trophy.

Sheaf started brightly with a strong wind behind them.

Chris Searles opened the scoring with a 45-yard shot that flew over the keeper, then he doubled it with a relative tap-in .. from 35 yards.

Angmering got back in it on the stroke of half-
time.

Angmering equalised then took a 3-2 lead on the hour with the Sheaf keeper Paul Galea helpless as he watched a shot fly into the top corner.

Ten minutes from time, Sheaf captain Matt Parker fed a ball through to Luke Adam and he put away the chance.

In extra time, Angmering had the ball in the net only for it to be judged offside.

Richard Ragless looked to have headed Sheaf in front, but that was also ruled out.

Angmering hit the post late on but penalties it was.

With both Ryan Mercer and Jon Prior off injured, Searles, man of the match Chris Salisbury, Dave Galea, Stuart Mercer and Russell Chandler were the takers.

All five were successful, as were Angmering's, so it went down to sudden death.

Jonny Barnett scored and before Andy Mears needed to step up, Paul Galea dived to push the ball on to the bar and post to put Sheaf in the April 15 final against Selsey.

They are also in the Division Four Cup final against Barnham III on April 28. Both are at Arundel FC.

This Saturday, Sheaf host Predators at Avisford Park.
