Southbourne Gymnastics Club's medal tally continues to grow after members scooped seven gold, seven silver and five bronze at the Arun Invitational.

In the novice age six/seven age group, Caitlyn Odin won silver on vault, bronze and floor and silver overall.

Club-mates Chloe Wileman, Freya Chandler and Laura Hayes were sixth, seventh and eighth – less than a mark off medal positions.

In
the eight/nine age group Annie Gates finished sixth, Lindsey Hart seventh and Charlotte Horner tenth.

The ten/11 group was one of the biggest. Jessica Wileman came tenth and Rebecca Wilson 12th – also less than a mark from medals.

In the 12+ group, Sophie Bennett won bronze on floor and Harriet Vessey bronze on vault. Emma Bennison finished sixth and Hattie Rawlins ninth.

The intermediate competition saw Meghan Scott win gold on vault and finish sixth overall, with Bella Inglis seventh and Jessica Valentine eighth.

The next level of competition was the bronze, more advanced than the club have previously competed for.

Maddie Smith won golds for floor, vault and overall in the 1999/2000 year group with Isobel Hanson taking silver on floor, bronze on vault and silver overall.

In the 1997/98 group, Becky Durham won silver on floor, bronze on vault and gold overall. Jade Bailey won silver on vault and finished with silver overall.

Alisha Redfern finished fifth overall in the age group, 0.6 from the medals.

The final age group was for gymnasts aged 12 to 16.

Paige Hanson won gold on vault and gold overall which at the age of 12 is a huge achievement against some who were nearly four years older.

Bea Hotchkiss finished fourth overall missing out on a medal by 0.1.

Coaches said the gymnasts had worked hard this year, winning medals at every event they have taken part in.

They now get a well-deserved break before they return to the gym and go on a club trip to the London Festival of Gymnastics.

After that come celebrations for the club's fifth birthday and training towards their own invitational in November.
