MIDDLETON'S Holly Colvin says she must stay among the wickets if she is to hold down her England place after an impressive outing against the West Indies.

The 18-year-old was given the nod for the first one-day international on Friday but played no part as torrential rain abandoned play after less than 43 overs.

However the Brighton College pupil came to the fore in the second one-dayer, taking two for seven as England skittled out the tourists for just 41 – a total England passed with 42 overs to spare.

Colvin wants to be involved when South Africa arrive for five one-dayers and three Twenty20 matches next month.

"I didn't think I was going to get a bowl at one stage but I did and it was nice to get out there," she said.

"We went out there to be ruthless and it was an overall good performance. I'd love to get my first five-wicket haul for England and I need to learn to not get bored of being economical."
