Middleton and Pagham fought out a draw that suited neither but there was a win for Bognor in the latest round of division three west matches.
Middleton v Pagham

A defiant knock of 60 not out from Stuart Rutter saw Pagham hold out for a draw against Middleton – a result that benefited neither side.

Pagham skipper Will Rolls elected to bowl but Middleton's openers started with some aggressive strokes.

Jack Lerwill went for one shot too many and drove it to Sean Rutter, whose catch removed the opener for 19.

Pagham introduced leg spinner Rutter from the seventh over, and he bowled an excellent unbroken spell for the rest of the innings.

Every Middleton batsman got going without going on to a big score.

Steve Collins was the pick of the batsmen with another knock in the 40s before he was judged leg-before to Rutter.

Middleton looked well placed at 104 for two but three quick wickets put them on the back foot. Neil Pacey and Brandon Hanley put together a decent partnership before another burst of wickets had them 170 for eight.

Rutter picked up five wickets and put the brake on every time Middleton looked like pressing on.

Matt Warren and Matt Hansford took Middleton to 200 before Hansford ran himself out and Madgwick was cleaned up by the impressive Hayles.

Middleton needed early joy and got it when Green was caught behind in Mark Carroll's first over. In his second, Carroll removed Matt Gregory thanks to Hansford's excellent slip catch.

Hayden and Rutter dug in for Pagham and when Rutter edged one, Pat Colvin couldn't hold on to the chance. Two balls later, the same happened again.

At 60 for two, Pagham were in a good position, but Aaron Madgwick had Hayden and Galea caught by Hansford.

Soon after, he disposed of Hayles to an excellent diving catch from Pacey.

With Hansford snaring Colban courtesy of Lerwill's catch and Carroll picking up Woolnough, Middleton fancied their chances. But Rutter and Rolls batted through the final ten overs to take their side to a draw.

Bognor Regis v Arundel

Bognor were asked to bat first on a damp pitch against under-strength Arundel.

Arundel sneaked both openers out quickly, but Elliot Clarke (50) and Phil Ball (92) took the game away from them. Ball deserved a century, where as Clarke batted patiently for his 50.

Batting became easier and the pair put on 122. Luke Seward (33no) ensured Bognor claimed full batting points by taking the total to 212 for five.

Bognor knew early wickets would leave Arundel unable to reach their total, and when Dammika Perera (6-44) picked up Will Clark for a duck and ran out David Wells for seven, they were on their way.

Perera's pace and seam was too much for the batsman and Jim Lee took three for 15 as Arundel were all out for 97, with only two batsmen reaching double figures.

Rohan Ardley (58) batted valiantly but Bognor won by 115 runs.
