Bognor swimmers make waves at county championships

MORE than a dozen Bognor swimmers are celebrating outstanding success in the pool at this year's county championships.

Many Bognor swimmers booked their places at the south-east regionals.
George Smith won a clutch of gold medals with wins in 200m fly, 200m backstroke, 50m backstroke, and 400m IM.

Ellie Loveman, Nick Salerno, Harriet Lambourne – who is from Bognor and swimming for St Bedes this year – and Josh Aldous were crowned county champions in their best events and got silvers and bronze in others.

Golds were won by Loveman in the 100m and 200m breaststroke, Salerno in the 200m fly and 400m IM, Lambourne in the 100m breaststroke and 200m fly and Aldous in 50m and 100m breaststroke.

Others who gained a place in the largest Bognor team ever at the regional championships were Darcy Cunningham-Stockdale, Katie Addison, Sophie Trotter, Abby Rowe and Jack Smith.

Other Bognor swimmers who set personal-best times at the counties included Jacob Loveman, Josh Todd, Sam Webb, Rose-Marie Miller and Georgina Highfield.
