THE ROCKS hope to move closer to launching their much-needed share issue in the next fortnight.

And they are now hoping to raise up to £500,000 – double the amount they had earlier said the move would bring in.

The club have also denied claims in one of our rival newspapers they are £250,000 in debt.

Honorary secretary Simon Cook said: "There has been some speculation reporting that the club's debt is in the region of £250,000.

"This is not the case, although it is fair to say that it has grown steadily this season, and stands around £150,000.

"Although this is not significant compared to many other clubs at this level, it is still a cause for concern, and perhaps explains why the club is so keen to move towards raising additional funds through the proposed share issue.

"Up to £500,000-worth of shares will be made available, and a further more detailed statement on this situation will be made by Friday, May 16.

"This enables the results of several meetings planned for the next few weeks to be considered."

Meanwhile, Rocks groundsman Eddie Broadbent has been shortlisted in the Conference South's groundsman of the year awards.

Nominations are made by visiting teams and the Rocks are hoping he is crowned the winner.
