Roxanne Hotchkiss has been crowned Miss West Sussex 2008.
The 21-year-old beat 19 girls to the title on a glittering night at Fontwell Park Racecourse.

The dance student admitted she was overwhelmed to be chosen and couldn't wait to represent the county in the Miss England finals next month.

"I really can't believe this," Roxanne said. "It has been such a great day and I'm so happy to have been named Miss West Sussex."

The Observer teamed up with Fontwell Park in March to promote the beauty pageant.

A panel of judges made up of best-selling author Jilly Cooper, three-time champion jockey Richard Dunwoody, actress Honeysuckle Weeks and Observer deputy editor John Carter had the tough task of picking the winner on Friday night.

Business management student Alexandra Williams (21) was named runner-up, with teacher training student Rebecca Parsons (20) placed third.

Don't miss the Observer on Thursday for all the reaction and pictures.
And don't forget to return to this website on Thursday for a video report.
